The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus can be traced back to the eleventh and twelfth centuries. It wasn’t until the private revelations of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690), however, that Christ chose to reveal the desires of his Heart and to confide the task of imparting new life to the devotion. Jesus promised that all those who practice the devotion to his Sacred Heart would receive every one of these graces, also known as the Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart:
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was a growing and popular practice until the middle of the 20th Century, when it began to fade. Today, more than ever, our families, our businesses, and our schools need the graces of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Sacred Heart Revival is a campaign by the Sacred Heart Enthronement Network to make the Jubilee to the Sacred Heart the time when we fan the flames of love for the Sacred Heart and spread the devotion far and wide so that He may once again reign from pole to pole in our hearts and in our homes.
Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a practice of preparation and prayer, followed by consecrating a home, business, or office to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In so doing, the participants are making the effort to turn that place into a “Little Bethany” where Jesus is welcomed as both friend and Lord. In return, Jesus has promised that He will bring many graces, as listed in the Twelve Promises.
